We made our first trip to the Swamp Buggy races.  It’s not to far from our place – what fun!  These people take jeeps and what looks like large go-carts and modify them to run in the mud and water.  I haven’t figured out how the scoring or the class types work, but the next time they race, I’ll have it all figured out

Earlier in the week we went to Tin City and Scott got to hang out with an alligator – it was pretty cool.

Scott was busy installing new cabinets at the cabana, as well as an attic ladder in our place – great way to spend a vacation, but it looks really nice.  Hopefully he can relax and enjoy the nice weather.

Since December 1, my job has been eliminated – in between looking for potential employers, I’ve been busy with lots of projects.

One of these is apron-mania….

I whipped up four of these guys with some thrifted fabric (festive colors) and had to purchase the brown fabric.  With the brown fabric on sale,  the costs per apron is about 5.00 each – I guess that’s not too bad.

Take a look….

I created the 'flowers' by gathering the fabric - sewing the flower and pinning it to the pocket

Of course, this started me wanting a new apron for myself, so I did pick up a remnant for that, as well.  I also got some more thrifted fabric at Goodwill to make a table runner.  Stay tuned for more sewing projects!

We hope you have a wonderful Christmas and safe and Happy New Year!

Merry Christmas from Scott and Kim

The design on the outside of the card was originally created by Scott’s dad, Carl, and is of their house on 6th street in Proctor.    The cards first went out some time in the 60’s.  We hope you enjoy our version!

To wish you the special gifts of this holiday season –

Peace, Joy and Lasting Happiness…

Scott & Kim

I hope everyone had a good Thanksgiving.  After greeting everyone with the ‘famous turkey call’ we proceeded to make enough food to feed at least one small country.

Emily, Dave, Rowan, Griffin, Harper and Jasper from the southern faction and Brianna, Chloe and Oliver from the northern regions came together for food and fun. Vickie and Scott K brought Verna to join us, so we had lots of people to eat loads of food.  All of it was delicious and I’m still enjoying left-overs!

Here’s a picture of the well-fed grandchildren!

Emily and I went with Brianna to her new place to help put stuff up on the walls and to bring the china cabinet from our place.  We got a lot done in a short time.  Chris helped out with the curtain hanging – thanks Chris!  Emily organized Chloe’s room and Scott hung the chandelier in there, so she’s good to go now.  I also made a second trip to bring a table and chairs for her dining room.

Next up – I’ll be turning in my work equipment this week (My job was eliminated – unfortunate as I only had 2 years left to retirement) Then I’ll be headed back south for the duration of our cold weather up here.

That’s it for now – Happy Christmas Shopping!

October is our anniversary month – Happy Anniversary Scott-face – 19 years married – whew!  Scott came to Naples for a week -we celebrated our anniversary and had a nice dinner at Kelly’s Fish House.

I’ve got a couple pictures of our little goblins – Here they are -

I don’t have Rowan and Griffie’s pictures yet – once I get them, I’ll post.

Last up – I’s my birthday month!  Yay.  I went to dinner with some friends here and had a great time.  Scott got me the newest Kindle (Fire) and a gift card to my favorite Florida store Bealls!  I also received many phone greetings and songs – thanks!

Although I love the warm fall days and don’t even mind the crisp mornings, it’s always a sad time when we have to pull the boats out of the water and get things ready for winter.  We hauled the pontoon in last weekend – Chloe was the driver – she even got us close enough to the boat launch dock!  Here’s a picture!

We also did some raking and burning and fixed a few things that we’ve been meaning to do all summer, so I’m thinking we’re ready for the snow now.

Brianna is buying a house up in Hibbing – we’re all excited for her – fingers crossed until it’s all closed and done.  Both Chloe and Ollie are doing good in school and seem to like it a lot.  Bree’s running the Twin Cities Marathon this weekend – 2 marathons in one year -that’s pretty good!

Rowan and Griffin are doing good in school too.  Griffin is loving his gecko, Gary – seems like he’s taking pretty good care of him.  Rosie (who is soon to have a birthday) is Jones’ing for a turtle.  We’ll have to see if she gets it!  Harper is growing like a little happy weed.  She’s certainly a pleasant baby!

Here’s Clydie soaking up the sun – he’s kind of giving me ‘the look’ here – doesn’t like his picture taken.

Jake is still doing good in NYC – he’s busy with his art and working as a carpenter.  He’s had a few interesting projects that he’s been working on.

That’s about it for now -

After a nice July and August, I can feel the chill in the air and fall is knocking on the door.  I like fall, but don’t like the cold weather.

Last weekend was Griffin’s 7th birthday and Harper’s Christening. Emily had a combo party and everything was great.  Here are a couple of pictures.

It was nice to see the great-grandmas as well as Carole, Jeff and Lauren.  I voted Harper – Best Baby at a Christening!  She was perfect and enjoyed the attention!

Next up – we’ll be taking the boats out of the water soon and turn off the beer fridge (always a sad day for me)!

Take care -

Kim

Happy August to everyone – and Happy Birthday month to Jake, Kate, Tessie, Willie and the rest of you August babies!

We’ve been enjoying our nice weather here – in contrast to Jake in NYC – he called me this week with his earthquake experience – on the 24th floor of a building and on a ladder.  No thanks!  I got a call this morning from him that they are on the evacuation plan for Hurricane Irene.  Stay safe guys!

We’re all doing well here  – I’ve noticed the weather changing and fall-like temperatures in the morning.  I’ll be headed south soon, so I’m not going to whine too much.  We’ve had a wonderful summer and have been fortunate enough to enjoy it.

Here’s Harper – waving ‘bye-bye’!

Wow – this has to  have been the warmest July in a long time.  I’m glad we could enjoy it.  The kids are all becoming pretty good swimmers and with Uncle D pulling them on the tube, they are turning into hams on the tube too!

Last weekend the Hags got together at Joni’s cabin near Bayfield, WI.  As usual there was a lot of laughing going on as well as catching  up, eating and music and drinks.  For my ‘hag gift’ I took an idea from Nancy, so thanks Nanc – here’s my take on the burlap pillows!  I used the serger 100% to make them ( no fraying) , they whipped up in no time.  The stenciling was fun too.

Scott had his Mom out yesterday.  They took a long putt around the lake and we had lunch.  She’s doing pretty good, considering that she’s 87.  She enjoyed talking to the grandkids and Baby Harper charmed her with her happy smiles!

That’s it for now -

We’re not used to 90+ degree weather up here – Luckily we have an A/C unit in our bedroom, so we can sleep at night – during the day I just  have lots of fans on. We’re enjoying the lake a lot lately.  Here’s me, Emily and Oliver.  Below that is Rowan and Clydie the life-guard dog!

Jake is back from Europe – he interviewed for an art residency – he didn’t get accepted ( it was quite an honor to be invited for the interview) , but got to see places that have been on his list – so that’s a good thing.

Yesterday we had a huge storm come through – Clydie and I were hiding in the closet as tree branches were flying around.  Only a little damage was done, which we cleaned up after the storm.  I don’t like when the sky turns black and the house begins to pitch!

That’s it for now – stay cool~

Kim
